A short history of Tillman’s Vehicle Accessories. It all started with Grandpa Donovan Tillman and his son Dwaine over 50 years ago. The Tillman family made its way from Minnesota down to Indiana and eventually settled on the west side of Indianapolis. Since their first family business, the Home Juice Company, the Tillman family has been an active part of the greater Indianapolis small business community for the past 52 years! From delivering juice to people’s homes to outfitting and selling vehicles to selling and installing the latest accessories the Tillman’s business has adapted with the times.
After finding success at two different Indianapolis locations, the wheels of progressed necessitated a trade with the City of Indianapolis. In 1978 the city made a deal with the Tillman’s and swapped properties, giving Tillman’s Van Sales the building it occupied in a historic property at the corner of 16th and Lafayette, the Old Pole Restaurant. By this time, Donovan and Dwaine were joined by Dwaine’s son, Rick. In 1988, Rick launched the original Tillman’s Van and Truck. Starting with conversion vans and then transitioning to off-road and overall vehicle accessories, Tillman’s Vehicle Accessories is proud of and grateful for 35-plus years of industry leading experience and carrying on the Tillman’s legacy of small business in the greater Indianapolis area even entering into a 4th generation with Rick’s sons, Michael and Scott, coming alongside the family business as well.
Tillman’s Vehicle Accessories has two locations in Central Indiana with the original Tillman’s Van & Truck Accessories store located just East of downtown Greenwood and the Tillman’s Truck Gear store located just west of the intersection of US-40 and Ronald Reagan Parkway in Plainfield. Finally, launched brand-new in 2018, is Tillman’s Auto World located at Tillman’s Van & Truck Accessories store in Plainfield!
